An island is a piece of land in the ocean, sea or river, surrounded on all sides by water and constantly rising above the water even during the highest tide. The islands differ from the mainlands by their smaller size. There are single islands and their groups - archipelagos. Who has not dreamed of being on a beautiful tropical island and soaking up a snow-white beach under the warm sunbeams? Those who have already visited such a beautiful place call it heavenly. And indeed it is. Absolutely all the islands of our planet are unique - beautiful nature, warm climate, clean beaches and attractive seas and oceans.
An island is a piece of land surrounded on all sides by water, be it the ocean or the riverbed. Since 70% of the Earth's surface is covered with water, by this definition, all land can be called islands. However, the largest land areas are usually called continents. According to this classification, the smallest continent - Australia - is three times larger than the largest island in the world - Greenland. The next largest islands are New Guinea and Kalimantan (Borneo). Our world is very large and there is life in almost every corner of it: be it the gorgeous rainforest of Madagascar or the rare moss in the north. People also adapt to living conditions in their region. And it is so nice to realize that we are all different, but we live on the same planet called the Earth.
