Speech recognition and conversion to text

Speech recognition turns spoken words into text. Dictating is often faster than typing, and it helps when your hands are busy, when you write long texts such as notes, letters or drafts, or when typing is hard for you. This tool uses the speech recognition built into your browser, so there's nothing to install: choose your language, click the button, allow access to the microphone and start speaking.

The text appears as you speak, in dozens of languages and dialects. Use the buttons to insert punctuation marks and line breaks, and see the word and character count. When you're done, copy the text or download it as a TXT file. Recognition is done by your browser's speech service (Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge, Apple in Safari), so you need an internet connection; Firefox does not support it. The tool works with live dictation only; it can't transcribe audio or video files.
