When to write in capital letters

Upper case means capital letters: A, B, C instead of a, b, c. Text in capitals stands out, so it's used for short headings, warnings and signs, for abbreviations, and in forms that must be filled in in block letters. Longer passages in capitals are harder to read, and online they come across as shouting, so it's best to keep them short.

The converter changes every letter of your text to a capital and leaves digits, punctuation, spaces and line breaks as they are. It works with every alphabet that has capital letters and follows the rules of each language: the German ß becomes SS, the Turkish i becomes İ, and Greek words lose their accents, as is usual in Greek capitals. Scripts without capital letters, such as Chinese, Japanese or Thai, stay unchanged. The text is converted in your browser and isn't sent anywhere.
