About the ASCII art generator

ASCII art draws pictures and letters with ordinary keyboard characters. This generator writes your text in big letters made of slashes, underscores, brackets and other symbols, the way programmers decorate the top of a program, a README file or the message a server shows at login. Choose one of 40 fonts, from the classic Standard, Big and Slant to Doom, Star Wars, 3D-ASCII and ANSI Shadow, or click “Show all fonts” to see your text in all of them at once.

The letters line up only in a monospaced font, so the art is for code editors, terminals, plain-text e-mails and the code blocks of chats and forums. Set the line width so that a long text wraps between words instead of breaking the picture, and choose “As a code comment” to put the comment marks of your programming language on every line, ready to paste into a script, a style sheet or an HTML page. The fonts draw Latin letters, digits and common symbols: Cyrillic, Greek, Japanese kana and Korean are written in Latin letters first, and other scripts are left out. These are FIGlet fonts, the standard for text banners since 1991.
