    How strikethrough text works

    Most apps and social networks have no button for strikethrough text, but you can still write it. This generator adds a special Unicode character, a combining long stroke, after every letter, and it draws a line through the letter. The result is ordinary text, so you can copy it and paste it into posts, bios, comments, chats and documents, and the line stays wherever Unicode is supported: on Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram and in most other places.

    Besides the classic strikethrough, you get a short stroke, a slash through every letter, single and double underline, an overline and a wavy underline, each with its own Copy button. Spaces can be crossed out too, so the line isn't interrupted between words. The look depends a little on the font of the app where you paste the text. In Discord and in Markdown you can also write strikethrough text with two tildes on each side: ~~text~~.
