About the JSON formatter

JSON is the most common format for exchanging data between websites, apps and APIs, but it often arrives as one long, unreadable line. Paste it here and it is formatted at once with clean indentation, so you can read the structure and find the value you need. The formatter also checks that the JSON is valid. If it isn't, it tells you the line and column of the problem and explains what is wrong, for example a missing comma, an extra comma at the end or a name in single quotes, and the “Show the error” button takes you straight to it.

Choose an indent of 2 or 4 spaces or tabs, sort the keys of every object alphabetically, or minify the JSON into its smallest form for sending or storing. Unlike many online tools, this formatter keeps your data exactly as it is: long numbers such as IDs aren't rounded, and repeated keys and escaped characters stay as they were written. The JSON is processed in your browser and is never uploaded, so it is safe to format configuration files and API responses.
