About invisible characters

Unicode has characters that look like empty space and others that have no width at all. They let you send a blank message, leave a name empty in a game or an app, or add space where ordinary spaces are removed. Click a character to copy it, after setting how many you need. The Hangul filler (U+3164) and the braille blank (U+2800) are often accepted where a name can't be empty, the zero-width space (U+200B) marks where a long word or a link may break, and the no-break space (U+00A0) keeps two words on the same line.

Invisible characters also get into texts by accident, copied from websites, PDF files, chat apps and AI chatbots: a zero-width space inside a word breaks searching, a byte order mark at the start of a file breaks scripts, and a no-break space isn't found by search and replace. Paste a text into the checker, and it finds zero-width characters, fillers, direction marks and other hidden characters, says which ones and how many, and removes them, or shows each one as its code, such as [U+200B], so you can see where it is. The joiners inside emoji stay intact.
