Base64 Encoder and Decoder

Base64 is a way to write any data, including images and other files, with only 64 safe characters: the letters A–Z and a–z, the digits 0–9 and the symbols + and /. It is used wherever binary data has to travel as plain text: in email attachments, data URIs in HTML and CSS, JSON and XML files, API keys and tokens. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption: anyone can decode it, so it doesn't protect secrets.

To encode, type or paste your text, or choose a file of up to 10 MB, and the Base64 appears at once. Text is encoded as UTF-8, so the letters of every language and emoji come back correctly. You can make URL-safe Base64 with - and _ instead of + and /, split the result into lines of 76 characters, or add a data: URI prefix to put an image straight into HTML or CSS. To decode, switch to Decode and paste the Base64: text is shown right away, and if it is a file such as a picture or a PDF, you can see the image and download the file. Nothing is uploaded.
